Happy Holidays/Thanks for 2004!
It's been a while since I updated the news page
so I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Holiday season and say thanks
for watching/supporting/hiring The Jim Show in 2004! I really appreciate
the kind words people say and write to me after my shows and I especially
appreciate all the festivals, organizations, and individual people who
choose ME to come and entertain at their events. I really love what
I do and you are the people who make it possible for me to keep doing
it... so THANK YOU ALL. I wish you the very best in 2005.

Ciao, Italia... 10/20 - 10/31
Just a quick note to say that I'll be out of
town (on vacation) in Italy from October 20th to October 31st. I'll
be checking email as often as possible, but you probably won't hear
from me until I get home... just in time for Halloween, the presidential
election and the Red Sox World Series victory celebration! Talk to you
in November...

The Summer is Here...
Happy Canada Day! It's officially July and I'm
starting to feel like the summer season has finally begun. I had a nice,
busy June... and July is shaping up to be just as nice and busy. There
isn't a ton of Jim Show news right now except that the shows are going
great and everything is fine on the homefront. I'm also still trying
to figure out where I should go when the Democratic National Convention
arrives in Boston. I would prefer NOT to be in Boston, as things are
probably going to be a bit hectic and security is going to be EXTRA
tight. (It sounds like they're doing everything short of declaring martial
law downtown during the convention.) And I think Peter Jennings will
be broadcasting from a sound stage on the Faneuil Hall spot where I
usually do my shows, so street performing is going to be difficult.
Oh well, it will be nice to have a break in the middle of the summer.
Keep and eye on my schedule and come say
hello after the shows if you see me in your town!

The Jim Sh-Yo!
The Yo-Yos have arrived! That's right, I'm talking
about Official Jim Show Yo-Yos! My good friend (and artist/performer)
John 'Mr. Yodel' Higby created the artwork and coordinated the order
straight from Duncan. The first part of a 300 yo-yo shipment is sitting
in my office and they
look really cool. Now, I know I don't actually perform yo-yo tricks
in my show, but I've started learning and I'm picking up the basics
pretty quickly. Who knows? There may be a little yo-ing in the show
by the end of the year. Hopefully I'll have a web-store up and running
sometime soon, but for now you can just email
me if you want to get your hands on one of these. You can also come
up after a show and I'll probably have them on me. (For the yo-yo nerds
out there, these are wood-axle PlayMaxx Pro-Yos with custom Higby art
on the pogs.)

And the season begins...
Last week I returned home from a couple cool
shows in Waterloo, Ontario (my favorite town in Canada.) I took part
in a group variety show in a great theater and the next day appeared
in the Waterloo Juggling Club public show at the U. Waterloo Juggling
Convention. It was a long drive for two shows, but as usual, the crowds
were wonderful and it was really nice to hang out with good friends.
(Thanks to Phil and Val for the hospitality and home cooking!)
After a nice six-week break from the show in late January and February,
it felt awesome to get back on stage. I look forward to the coming Spring
season. The phone is ringing and email is coming in... There will be
many gig announcements coming soon!

Happy New Year / 2003 Wrap-Up
Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all survived
the holidays and haven't forgotten about all those resolutions you made
5 days ago. I am looking forward to 2004 and I hope I'm just as busy
as I was last year. 2003 was, without a doubt, my busiest year ever.
For those of you keeping score at home,
here's a look back at some of the highlights:
January: major house renovations; much painting; little sleep
February: Ft. Lauderdale, FL festival; much sleep; BU jugglefest
March: many local gigs; much shoveling
April: first gig ever in NC (road trip!); street performing begins
May: NH tour; spring finally arrives in Boston; lots of gigs
June: Boston Mag. Article published; much more painting; TV interview
July: Edmonton Festival; minor concussion; lots of sleeping
August: still sleepy; feeling better; begin landscaping; and
the gigs
September: much landscaping; college tours; porch painting
October: much landscaping; enjoying the weather; school shows
November: still landscaping; still enjoying the weather; many
gigs
December: busy first half; blizzard; calm second half; holidays...
Looking back, 2003 was a year of huge productivity for me. I got a LOT
done on my house in the last 12 months, but I was also able to perform
more gigs than I've ever had before in a single year. It was exhilarating
and exhausting and I can't even remember how many all-nighters I pulled.
I never knew how much a human could accomplish on such little sleep.
(Thank you, caffeine.)
I would also like to take this opportunity to say a special THANK
YOU... friends, fans, and clients... for making my year a wonderful
one. I had some of the most memorable performances of my career last
year. The audiences were just great and so many of you folks that hired
me really made my time at your venues enjoyable. So thank you,
once again... I hope to see you in the future.
On to 2004. I am actually taking it easy so far this year and trying
to recharge my batteries for the spring. I'm doing a few performances
in January, but I'm blocking off February for a much needed rest from
the show. I don't know what I'm doing yet during the break, but I'll
try to take some pictures. The phone has started ringing for the upcoming
season and as soon as shows are booked, they're posted on the schedule
page, so stay tuned.
I wish everyone a happy, safe and productive 2004!
